After researching into Rudolf Laban and being highly restricted with resources and study material, I decided to pick a second practitioner that would bond with Laban's work while also allowing me to experiment with a different dance style and choreographic method.
My second chosen Practitioner is Crystal Pite a female choreographer from Canada, she has choreographed over 50 dance works for companies such as The Paris Opera Ballet, The Royal Ballet and The National Ballet of Canada. 'Body and Soul' a dance piece created by Pite sparked my interest through expressive body movements that rippled through the body creating a wave like affect, this makes the movements look effortless and rhythmical. Her ballet fused contemporary dance style is what I've aimed to use within my own choreography work from the beginning of the process and being able to see how Pite moves her classical trained dancers in such unique and unusual ways is highly inspiring. I also admire how she takes the classical ballet basics such as turnout and the 5 basic positions and adapts the upper

body by caving the upper back and reversing the arms in a unique way. Throughout the last sections of my piece, I want to look at how I can adapted classical ballet movements so they have a de-centered alignment to create off-balance and asymmetrical shapes. I will do this by using the mirrors available to me within the studios to adapt and figure out what suits my style to create Pite's affect.

In addition, looking into clip 2, the minimalistic music creates an eerie atmosphere within the theatre and made me as an audience viewer feel uncomfortable and vulnerable. The simple moments of stillness and long holds correlates with the music well to amply the impact in the audience. During the 3rd part of the choreography (Understanding), I want to imply this by creating long pauses. By doing this I hope to create the uncomfortable unknowing in which the character is feeling during this stage go her life. This will further allow the audience the continue the wave pf emotions with the character to leave a bigger emotional impact on the at the end.
